Rockland Resources (CSE: RKL) reported first drilling at the Cole Gold Mines Project in Ontario's Red Lake district, headlined by 79.9 g/t Au over 0.50 m near surface (hole RR-26-08, 23.65–24.15 m), with RR-26-02 and RR-26-03 returning 279 g/t and 113 g/t Au — both, again, over 0.50 m. Half-metre samples at very high grade are exactly where the nugget effect lives; on their own they are targeting data, not tonnage.
The more informative numbers are the wider, lower-grade hits: 11.30 g/t Au over 1.85 m and 6.23 g/t over 1.61 m (RR-26-15), and 6.57 g/t over 2.50 m (RR-26-09). Those speak to a mineralised system with some continuity, which is what an early-stage project needs to prove before the spectacular half-metre assays mean anything.
Rockland also flagged a new gold zone at Greg Smith Lake, roughly 1.1 km southwest of the historic Cole shaft — a legitimate reason to keep drilling. This is a first pass, so treat it as encouraging rather than defining.
