Kodiak Copper Corp. (TSXV: KDK | OTCQX: KDKCF | FSE: 5DD1) reported on August 12, 2026, that its recently completed 3D Induced Polarization survey has identified a chargeability anomaly adjacent to the current Mineral Resource at the South deposit — one that extends over 900 metres and is similar in character to the 3D-IP anomaly associated with the South deposit itself.
The target is untested. Available data, the company states in the August 12 release, suggests the new anomaly may represent a fault-displaced extension of the South deposit porphyry system.
The 2026 drill program is the vehicle to test it. Two diamond drill rigs are currently operating at MPD, with 16,500 metres planned in total and drilling expected to continue into Q4 2026, per the August 12 release. As of that release, the company had drilled 6,348 metres across 32 core holes project-wide. The program commenced at the Ketchan deposit — interpreted to have significant expansion potential — where 5,301 metres across 26 core holes have been completed to date.
"The 2026 exploration program at MPD is progressing very well, and the addition of a second drill will fast-track our progress as we advance resource growth opportunities across the project and test priority targets," said Claudia Tornquist, President and CEO of Kodiak, in a June 29, 2026 statement.
The funding is already in place. On June 25, 2026, Kodiak closed an upsized and oversubscribed $15 million private placement, including the exercise of the agents' option. The program is described in the August 12 release as fully funded.
MPD hosts seven deposits, all open to expansion, per the August 12 release. An updated Mineral Resource Estimate is planned for Q1 2027. The project is 100%-owned by Kodiak and situated in southern British Columbia.
At KDK's current price of C$0.68, per TradingView data as of August 12, 2026, the stock carries a market capitalization of C$67.73 million — a figure that has declined 11.43% over the prior week, per the same source. The new 3D-IP target is geophysical, not geological; no assay results exist because drilling on the anomaly has not yet begun.
What the company does have on record: a defined structural analogue to a known deposit, a funded two-rig program running through Q4 2026, and a resource update timed for Q1 2027.
